~Flashback Saturday~1977~

The Frampton Comes Alive album played at the first boy/girl party that I went to, Saturday Night Fever was the top movie, The Bee Gees permeated the radio airwaves. I was in love with Ace Frehley, the spaceman from KISS.

~In 1977, I was thirteen years old, getting ready to start junior high. I still had my braces, saw KISS live in concert at Madison Square Garden (my Dad took me...and if you knew my Dad, you wouldn't believe it) and got asked out by a boy I really liked.~

~What were YOU doing in 1977?~

In '77 I was a freshman at Ithaca High School (NY). I loved Peter Frampton!!! One of my best friends had a huge crush on him.
Also loved Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Talking Heads, and Styx.
Movies - Saw Star Wars at the drive-in (can you believe it?) and I also saw "Saturday Night Fever".
TV shows - Welcome Back Kotter, Charlie's Angels, MASH, and Happy Days (just to name a few).
phew, that was fun!

1977 - My favorite summer EVER. I was very productive that summer - working on my tan! Fleetwood Mac's Rumours was the staple album of our summer and I was just starting to hear a lot about this guy named Bruce Springsteen.

You saw KISS at Madison Square Garden? How exciting! Sounds like your dad may have been a little like mine, although he did take me to see Jimi Hendrix.

In 1977 I was a year old, so I wasn't doing much other than eating, crying, and getting my diapers changed.

I like that photo of you at 13. You look like a celebrity, but I can't put my finger on which one. It's a cute picture. :)

Oh, I love flashbacks! In 1977 I was 10. My friend and I argued over who got to choose KC from KC and the Sunshine Band as a boyfriend. We watched Alice on t.v. and said "kiss my grits", thought black lights with glow in the dark chalk was cool, and enjoyed skateboarding with the recently invented urethane wheels. So much better than the metal ones! I also can't forget that I cried along with my mother when we heard Elvis died :(

Wendy: I also listened to Fleetwood Mac AND saw Star Wars at the drive in! :)

Judi: My dad was the band director at my school for many many years and I was always tortured while riding in the car with him because he listened to nothing but classical music. So, the fact that he took me to see KISS was nothing short of a miracle. The video that I have on this post was from the actual concert that I was at in December 1977. Your dad took you to see Jimi Hendrix! That is cool!

Kitten: I'll bet you are thinking of Mila Kunis from That 70's Show. The first time I watched that show and saw her, I was shocked...it was like looking at myself at 13 years old!

Icedream: I loved all of those shows too! Especially Alice. I actually saw Elvis the year before he died...August of 1976 in Charleston WV. My aunt was a big fan and I went with her...I'll never forget it.

In '77, I was twelve. I remember seeing Star Wars - but not much else.
