~Book Review - Dancing With Ana by Nicole Barker~
Beth, Melanie, Jenny and Rachel have all been best friends since Kindergarten. Now they are sixteen....obsessing over boys, their hair, clothing....and their weight. The most popular girl in school, Christine McCady, is stunning. And thin. The girls are convinced that if they become skinny, just like Christine, they can have any guy they want.
The four friends decide to start a diet. They each weigh themselves, then decide what their goal weights should be. Melanie accepts herself the way she is, and decides not to diet. Beth begins her diet but becomes obsessed with it. She begins to skip meals, gets terrible headaches, and suffers dizziness. Her friends become worried.
Beth's long time friend who lives across the street, Jeremy, starts to notice the change in Beth. They have been friends since they were toddlers. Now, at sixteen and seventeen years old, they have begun to notice the changes in each other, and are drawn to each other in a different way. Jeremy is falling in love with Beth, and feels protective of her. Beth is confused about her feelings for Jeremy...she knows that she is attracted to him, but is unsure of the relationship.
In the end, it is Jeremy who takes the reins, and helps Beth to sort out her issues with her weight, and her family.
The scenarios are very real in this story. Teen parties with no parents home, eating and purging, and broken homes. It is a story of friendship, and finding out what your true feelings are, and overcoming your fears.
This book is a must-read for teens.

Sounds good, but not for me. I seem to be stuck with futuristic YA novels, those speak to me lol
Not just a read for teens, but something I'd like too!
Great review Missy. I hope my copy gets here soon. I can't wait to read this one.
