Bob Geldof, I think, introduced a generation to the idea of philanthropy and of what an individual can achieve. It is certainly more in the meaning of Christmas than say.... Frosty:)

I didn't like Prince, but Purple Rain was a big hit that year, too. Plus Bryan Adams' biggest album ever came out late that year. I still love the video for Run To You!

This was also the year I graduated high school...
