That was quite a trip down memory lane. The Ronal Reagan shooting was about that Jodie Foster obsessed fan, wasn't it?
And MJ's Thriller,wow,wow!!
And ET,how cute.
I had no idea all those things happened in 1982.
great post!!
Thanks! I love doing these flashbacks...I had a lot of happy years back then. Plus, we forget what was happening in the news back then. When we are reminded, we are amazed at how much we have forgotten about.
Music is the biggie for me...I associate so much with certain songs from certain time periods. It is basically how I can remember my past...
Holy cow, you found a video on YouTube for that song! Yes, it was played and played and played. It's still played at every hockey game across the nation, too!
Music is how I connect with the past as well. I recall what was happening in my life through the music that was out at the time. And my husband doesn't even challenge me anymore if we remember different dates for music, because he knows I'm right.

Oh, I loved the Alan Parsons Project! This was the year I got married so it's always fun to remember what was going on that year!
This is a fantastic post, Missy! I love looking back and discovering what was popular in a given year. I don't remember 1982 having so many memories in terms of cultural significance - E.T., Thriller, Schindler's List, Sirius & Eye in the Sky. I equate so many times in my life with the music that was popular then. I listen to a classic rock station that plays on TV during the day. So many songs transport back to different times in my life. You have probably read High Fidelity by Nick Hornsby, the main character marked everything that happened in his life with sone lists!
Thank you for a great trip!
Love to your beautiful fur babies!
Diane: That song is forever embedded in my memory and my cousin's, too. Our husbands roll their eyes when the 2 of us get together and start our "Remember Whens"...Eye In The Sky is always mentioned.
Lisa: You've been married quite a while...that is wonderful. 1982 was a good year for you!
Amy: Believe it or not, I have not read High Fidelity...I NEED to...I haven't even seen the movie and I am a huge John Cusack fan. Shame on me!
