My Sweet String

I had to say goodbye to String on Saturday morning. She was so so sick. I held her in my arms on the way to the vet, and sang to her. She was terrified of the car, so putting her in a carrier was never an option. As long as she was wrapped up in a fuzzy beach towel with me holding her and singing to her, she did fine. At the vet, they took her right in. I kissed her little face and told her how much we loved her, that it was ok for her to go. It was over in a matter of seconds.
I am at work today with a very heavy heart. I have her picture on my desk...in some ways it makes me happy to look at her. In other ways, it makes me want to cry.
Thank you to everyone who has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. I know that many of you have been through the same thing, so you know exactly what I am feeling. I know that it will get better with time. She was a one-of-a-kind cat, and I was especially lucky to have her in my life for as long as I did.

Awwwww I'm so sorry to hear that String had to pass on, but if she was in pain it was for the best. :(

We had to put down one of our dogs once [that I can remember] her name was Kissie. She had throat cancer I believe, and it got to the point that she couldn't lay down because she was unable to breathe.

If dogs and cats go to the same doggie/kittie heaven, maybe they can be friends. ;)

I really am sorry - i hoped String would pull through. I can feel your heavy heart. Cats are so loving and comforting and when they pass, they take a part of you with them. I know how long it took for me to get over losing my cat Oscar. My thoughts are with you this week. Take care.X

So sorry Missy, to hear of your loss. It will get better with time, and feeling the pain is the road to healing...but is also the hardest part. My thoughts are with you!

Oh Missy - I'm so sorry. How great it is that you were able to have each other for so long, but I know that doesn't help the broken heart right now. I'm sending you healing and comforting thoughts.

Thanks everyone. I miss her so much...she was a very "commanding" presence in our home. She always met me at the front door, sat in the bathroom while I was taking a shower...and she was a "talker". :(

Thanks again for everyones prayers.

It is just so hard to lose a pet because they always end up becoming a family member. I remember when my cat was put to sleep and it is just really hard. Isn't it amazing the happy memories that these precious animals make for us?

Oh Missy, I am crying to hear about your beloved String. My parents had to put down their 16 year old cat two years ago, and it was absolutely devistating for all of us. Lots of hugs to you, my friend...
